Berger meets with leaders in House, Senate

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger on Thursday met with Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson, R-Wis., and House Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Peter Roskam, R-Ill., to discuss top credit union issues.

NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler attended both meetings.

While meeting with Johnson, Berger focused on NAFCU's continued push for a national data security standard for retailers and the importance of cybersecurity, its advocacy for credit union regulatory relief and the association's legislative priorities for 2016.

Berger met with Roskam to discuss the importance of the credit union tax exemption and the evidence of the benefits credit unions bring to the nation's economy. He also addressed NAFCU's advocacy on data security and credit union regulatory relief.

Earlier this week, Berger met with House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Jeff Miller, R-Fla., and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., to talk about NAFCU-backed legislation easing restrictions on loans to veterans and NAFCU's data security advocacy.
