NAFCU touts CU message at DNC

NAFCU staff continue to raise awareness of credit union issues and concerns at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this week, meeting with House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and more.

NAFCU's team also met with House Small Business Committee Ranking Member Nydia Velázquez, D-N.Y.​, and Reps. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., G.K. Butterfield, D-N.C., Gwen Moore, D-Wis., and Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.

Thompson is the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Ellison, Moore and Velázquez serve on the House Financial Services Committee, and Lofgren serves on the House Judiciary Committee.

Earlier in the week, the NAFCU team also met with Reps. Jared Polis, D-Colo., Joe Crowley, D-N.Y., Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., and Gwen Graham, D-Fla.

NAFCU Board Vice Chair Jeanne Kucey (CEO and president of JetStream Federal Credit Union in Miami Lakes, Fla.), Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler and Associate Director of Legislative Affairs Gaurav Parikh are meeting with lawmakers and policymakers at the convention to urge their support for credit union regulatory relief. They will be joined later this week by Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt.

Former President Bill Clinton addressed the convention last night. President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are both scheduled to speak tonight.
