CDFI Fund webinar reset for March 30
Last week's webinar for applicants to the 2016 funding round for Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions Program and Native American CDFI Assistance Program was postponed and is now scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern March 30.
Those interested can sign up for the webinar here. All information and forms required to participate in this year's funding is available here.
April 18 is the deadline for CDFI-qualified credit unions to apply for CDFI Fund grant money. A total of $190.5 million is available for grants.
Funding, which is available in the way of financial assistance and technical assistance grants, is allocated as follows:
- $153 million for CDFI Program awards;
- $22 million for Healthy Food Financing Initiative Financial Assistance awards; and
- $15.5 million for Native American CDFI Assistance Program awards.
Credit unions that have NCUA's low-income designation share many of the qualifications required for CDFI certification.
In January, NCUA signed a memorandum of understanding with the Treasury Department that will help identify credit unions that are CDFI-qualified; NCUA's goal is to double the number of CDFI-certified credit unions to 590 by December 2016.
