NAFCU's Long sees 'positives' in job market

In an interview Thursday with Bankrate.com, NAFCU Chief Economist and Director of Research Curt Long said there are "a lot of positives" in the job market despite "stubbornness" in wage growth and participation rates.

Citing the unemployment rate, and hiring and quitting rates, Long said: "Most of those indicators suggest that we're back to where we were prior to the crisis."

Bankrate's Mark Hamrick discussed the job market with Long and a recent college graduate who talked about her experience. Long emphasized the effect student debt is having on college graduates as they enter the workforce.

Long also talked about the presidential election and noted that members of both political parties have been suggesting sweeping economic reforms in the future. He also noted the economic instability in China and its potential to affect the global economy going forward.
