Congress may vote on government funding

Congress is expected to vote to extend government funding through March 31 this week, after their return from Thanksgiving break.

The extension will allow a Republican-led Congress to negotiate with President-elect Donald Trump on a spending package. Currently, government funding is due to run out on Dec. 9.

Even though both chambers of Congress will be led by Republicans next year, they will still need the cooperation of Senate Democrats as Republicans don't have a 60-seat majority to end filibusters.

Also this week, the NAFCU Board will meet with CFPB Director Richard Cordray and Federal Reserve Board Gov. Lael Brainard.
