CFPB's consumer board eyes student loan servicing, debt collection today

NAFCU will attend today's CFPB Consumer Advisory Board meeting, which will focus on student loan servicing issues, debt collection, as well as trends and themes.

The meeting, slated to begin at 10:15 a.m. Eastern, takes place at CFPB's headquarters in Washington. CFPB Director Richard Cordray will deliver remarks during the meeting, which will be available via live stream.

CAB was created by the Dodd-Frank Act to advise and consult with the bureau on its functions and on emerging trends and practices in the consumer financial markets. To fill it, the bureau seeks out experts in the policy areas it focuses on – consumer protection, financial services, community development, fair lending – and representatives from depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities.
