NAFCU Reg Committee talks litigation, MLA, more

NAFCU's Regulatory Committee will meet today to discuss the top regulatory issues facing the credit union industry, including ongoing litigation involving the NCUA.

The committee will be briefed on the status of litigation including the lawsuit filed by the Independent Community Bankers of America against the NCUA over its member business lending rule (the suit was recently dismissed in federal district court but the ICBA may appeal) and the American Bankers Association's ongoing lawsuit against the NCUA over its field-of-membership rule.

Also up for discussion is the NCUA's progress in streamlining exam processes. NAFCU will also seek input from committee members about ongoing challenges relating to the implementation of the Defense Department's Military Lending Act rules.

NAFCU Director of Political Affairs Dan O'Brien will also brief the committee on the latest from the new 115th Congress, the continuing Trump transition and how recent developments might impact the credit union industry.
