Collins, McCaskill reintroduce senior protections bill
Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., on Tuesday reintroduced the NAFCU-backed "Senior$afe Act," which is aimed at improving financial safeguards for seniors.
NAFCU voiced its support for the House and Senate versions of the bill during the last Congress; Reps. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Bruce Poliquin, R-Maine, introduced the House version, which was passed by the House in 2016.
The bill is intended to protect seniors from financial fraud while providing legal cover for financial services employees to properly report suspicions of financial abuse.
