FTC's Ramirez to resign Feb. 10

Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Edith Ramirez announced her resignation last week effective Feb. 10. During her time as chairwoman, she called on Congress to strengthen data security and breach notification requirements, also advocated for by NAFCU.

Ramirez became chairwoman in 2013 and served as an FTC commissioner since 2010.

She worked on such issues as protecting consumers, promoting competition in the technology and healthcare sectors, safeguarding consumer privacy and data security in the online world, and protecting diverse communities from deceptive and unfair practices and scams.

She called for Congress to strengthen data security requirements so the FTC could better deter unlawful conduct during a congressional hearing last September.
