NAFCU talks CHOICE Act, reg relief with Luetkemeyer

NAFCU representatives on Tuesday met with House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Chairman Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo., to discuss potential regulatory relief under the "Financial CHOICE Act," expected to be released soon, and other credit union issues.

Representatives from NAFCU included Executive Vice President and General Counsel Carrie Hunt, Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler and Senior Associate Director of Legislative Affairs Chad Adams.

Last week, Hunt strongly urged House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, to keep the Dodd-Frank Act's Durbin amendment repeal provision in his revised "Financial CHOICE Act," along with many of the initiatives for credit union regulatory relief.

Also discussed during Tuesday's meeting were data security, flood insurance and NAFCU's 2017 priorities.

House and Senate Republicans have a retreat later this week in Philadelphia with President Donald Trump to discuss the upcoming legislative agenda.
