Members 1st CEO Marquette passes away

Former NAFCU Board Member Bob Marquette, president and CEO of Members 1st Federal Credit Union in Mechanicsburg, Pa., has passed away. NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger praised Marquette for his leadership in the industry and his longstanding support of NAFCU and its members.

"Bob was an exemplary participant in NAFCU's growth, development and efforts to advance the credit union industry's interests in Washington," said Berger. "His loss is felt deeply, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."

Marquette was with Members 1st for more than 30 years and served as its chief executive for the past 19 years. During his time there, he was also a prominent player in NAFCU policy making and political action.

Marquette served three full terms on the NAFCU Board, from July 2004 to July 2013, and was a past chairman of the association's Political Action and PAC Committee. NAFCU bestows a White Hat award each year on the credit union raising the most for NAFCU/PAC, and Marquette led his credit union to win 13 White Hat awards; he accepted the most recent one last month during NAFCU's 50th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo in Honolulu.

An admired leader within the credit union community, Marquette also won a designation as CEO of the Year in the 2014 NAFCU Awards Competition. In this year's competition, his credit union won a designation as Credit Union of the Year.
