Following NAFCU's meeting yesterday with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Commissioner Mignon Clyburn said the commission has heard credit union concerns and may look into crafting a possible exemption for credit union informational communications under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger, Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler, Director of Regulatory Affairs Alexander Monterrubio and Regulatory Affairs Counsel Ann Kossachev attended Wednesday's meeting.

"The meeting with Commissioner Clyburn was very productive, and she clearly listened to the industry's concerns regarding the adverse effects some TCPA provisions have on credit unions," said Berger. "We look forward to continuing our work with the commission so that credit unions can more easily communicate with their members without fear of violating the rule."
