NAFCU's Hunt to provide D.C. update at CU conference

NAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt is in New Orleans today to provide a Washington update at the AICPA Conference on Credit Unions. Hunt's presentation will give attendees a better understanding of the current regulatory landscape.

Hunt will also provide insight on what legislative and regulatory issues credit unions can expect to see in the coming months. In its federal advocacy efforts, NAFCU is actively pushing five tenets for ensuring a positive environment for credit unions, including:

  • a regulatory environment that allows credit unions to grow;
  • appropriate, tailored regulation for credit unions and relief from growing regulatory burdens;
  • a fair playing field;
  • transparency and independent oversight; and
  • a strong, independent NCUA as the primary regulator for credit unions.

The AICPA Conference on Credit Unions is billed as "the most comprehensive education of current accounting topics affecting the credit union industry," bringing together credit union professionals, decision makers and industry leaders.
