FFIEC issues 2018 HMDA reporting guide
The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) on Wednesday released an updated guide to Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) reporting – its first full update to the guide since 2013. This 2018 edition reflects changes to Regulation C that went into effect Jan. 1 for those submissions due March 1, 2019.
The guide includes, among other things:
- an overview of data requirements;
- the HMDA small-entity compliance guide;
- instructions on collection of data on ethnicity, race and sex;
- charts summarizing transactional and institutional coverage; and
- Regulation C and the official interpretation of Regulation C.
The HMDA requirements that went into effect Jan. 1 affect home equity lines of credit, establish transactional thresholds for coverage and expand the number of HMDA data points collected from credit unions. NAFCU has a host of HMDA compliance resources available to association members, including charts and guides, articles, webcasts and blog posts.
