Free NAFCU Services webinar available on ADA website compliance

NAFCU Services has a webinar available at no cost to help credit unions understand what the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires for website compliance.

"Is Your Website ADA Compliant?" offers credit unions insight into what the ADA currently says about website accessibility requirements and what possible changes could be coming. The Department of Justice has never promulgated regulations regarding website accessibility for public accommodations and recently withdrew previously issued advanced notices of proposed rulemakings on this subject.

During the webinar, Anthony Ianniciello and Will Rodgers of Q2, a NAFCU Services Preferred Partner, explore the legal gray area resulting from ambiguities in the law and lack of DOJ guidance. They also provide examples of website accessibility and when credit unions should take action on the issue.

NAFCU has been active on ADA, engaging with various stakeholders on this issue, including with Congress, states' attorneys general and the Justice Department to clarify regulatory standards for websites as credit unions, banks and other entities have faced a rash of lawsuits in the past year related to website accessibility.

NAFCU has submitted four briefs as amicus curiae in support of credit unions' motions to dismiss complaints filed against them in federal district courts under the ADA. One of the lawsuits was dismissed last week.

NAFCU also has an on-demand webcast available for purchase through its Online Training Center. Additional resources for dealing with the ADA issue can be found here.
