FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sept. 9, 2011

WASHINGTON – Reps. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), John Campbell (R-Calif.), Robert Hurt (R-Va.) and Sander Levin (D-Mich.) have joined the illustrious lineup of speakers for NAFCU's Congressional Caucus, Sept. 18-21, at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington.

Prior to becoming chairman of House Financial Services Committee, Bachus served as ranking member of the committee for four years. He has also served as chairman of the House Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit and authored the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act.

Campbell and Hurt are both members of the House Financial Services Committee and the Capital Markets and Government-Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee. Campbell also serves on the International Monetary Policy Subcommittee and the House Committee on the Budget. Hurt is also vice chairman of the Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing, and Community Opportunity.

The ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Levin served as chairman of the committee in the 111th Congress and has served on four of the six Ways and Means Subcommittees (Social Security, Health Care, Income Security and Family Support, Trade).

Bachus, Campbell and Hurt are scheduled to speak Sept. 20 and Levin on Sept. 21.

These lawmakers will join over 20 others who have been confirmed for the event so far. National Credit Union Administration Chairman Debbie Matz and Board Members Gigi Hyland and Michael Fryzel are also slated to address the Caucus. Terry McAuliffe, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will be the event's keynote speaker.

In addition, credit union representatives can register for a Sept. 20 political breakfast that will feature Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont).

NAFCU's Congressional Caucus provides an opportunity for credit union representatives to discuss issues such as member business lending, the credit union tax exemption and the future of housing finance with officials in Washington.

Registration for the Caucus is open to both NAFCU members and nonmembers. For more information, visit www.nafcu.org/caucus.

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions is the only national organization that focuses exclusively on federal issues affecting credit unions, representing its members before the federal government and the public.
