Mortgage registry, NCUA reps in Jan. 12 webcast

NAFCU's Jan. 12 webcast on federal mortgage originator registration rules will include Tim Doyle, vice president of policy and operations for the entity that runs the national registry, and NCUA staff involved in their implementation.

Doyle works for the State Regulatory Registry, a subsidiary of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors. The SRR operates the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry on behalf of state mortgage regulatory agencies.

NAFCU's Jan. 12 webcast will focus on the mortgage originator registration requirement set by the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act for all mortgage originators, including credit unions and their employees. NCUA has announced this registry is expected to become operational around the end of this month. The initial registration period would then continue until about July 29.

Doyle will be joined in the NAFCU webcast by Regina Metz, an NCUA staff attorney, and Lisa Dolan, a program officer in the supervision division of NCUA's examination and insurance office.

The Jan. 12 webcast is set for 2-3:30 p.m. Eastern; members and nonmembers may participate.

Early registration discounts end Jan. 5.
