Do I have to be a NAFCU member to purchase the GPS?
No. The GPS is available for purchase by NAFCU member credit unions, nonmember credit unions and any individual or organization that is interested. However, NAFCU members do receive discounted pricing.
What is the most recent version of the GPS?
The latest version of the GPS is the 2013 NAFCU Credit Union Compliance GPS, released in March.
We bought the 2012 GPS in late-2012. Do we need to purchase the 2013 GPS or will we automatically receive the updated version?
If your credit union or organization purchased the 2012 GPS after September 1, 2012, you do not need to purchase the 2013 version. You will receive an email providing you with access to the 2013 version, at no additional cost.
I plan to attend NAFCU's 2013 Regulatory Compliance School. Do I still need to purchase the GPS?
No. The 2013 GPS will be provided – for free – to all attendees of NAFCU’s Regulatory Compliance School. Attendees will receive a hard copy as well as an electronic version.
You mentioned attendees of School obtaining a hard copy of the GPS. Will I receive a hard copy of the GPS if I purchase the manual without attending School?
No. The GPS is designed to be an electronic manual. There are many links to regulations, guidance documents and other resources. These links are only accessible in the electronic version of the GPS. School attendees receive a hard copy as the GPS is the training text for School and the NCCO exams.
Do we receive the 2013 edition of the GPS if we register for the Regulatory Compliance Seminar in October?
The GPS is only provided for free for attendees of our Regulatory Compliance School every March. We don't currently have plans to provide the 2013 GPS to Seminar attendees, but if we do, we would provide a refund to anyone who bought the 2013 GPS.
Does the electronic GPS have “search” capabilities?
Yes. The GPS is downloaded as a PDF document and it is easily searchable (use “CTRL + F” to search by keyword). Additionally, the GPS includes bookmarks to help you navigate from section to section.
Do other employees of my credit union or organization need to purchase the GPS to have access?
No. Only one GPS is needed per credit union or organization. The GPS can be freely shared among all staff. We do ask that you not share the GPS with other credit unions or third-parties.
Will the GPS be periodically updated throughout the year, or will we need to buy a new GPS each year?
The GPS is currently set up to be updated on an annual basis. If your credit union buys the 2013 GPS, you will receive any mid-year updates – if they occur – for free. To receive updates occurring after January 1, 2014, your credit union will need to purchase the 2014 GPS.
