NAFCU's 2015 Regulatory Compliance School Kicks Off With Record Number of Registrants

Arlington, Va. (March 30, 2015) - Credit union professionals from across the country are gathering today at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., to kick off the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) 2015 Regulatory Compliance School, which has a record number of registrants this year. Attendees will gain the knowledge needed to conquer a growing number of regulatory compliance requirements.

The School runs through Friday, April 3 and is open to NAFCU members and nonmembers.

"The regulatory environment has grown increasingly complex, so it's essential for credit unions to have a concrete understanding of the latest regulations and laws affecting their responsibilities," said JiJi Bahhur, NAFCU's director of regulatory compliance and NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO). "With some of the industry's leading compliance professionals presenting, the School will be a great resource for credit unions dealing with any new compliance changes that arise."

School presenters include Bahhur and other members of NAFCU's highly regarded compliance team, including Bernadette Clair, NCCO, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and senior regulatory compliance counsel; Brandy Bruyere and Eliott Ponte, both NCCOs and regulatory compliance counsels; and Victoria Daka, regulatory compliance specialist. In addition, NAFCU's Anthony Demangone, executive vice president and COO, Alicia Nealon, director of regulatory affairs, and Celina Stewart, regulatory affairs counsel, will also offer remarks.

School attendees will also hear from:

  • Marshall Bell, counsel of BuckleySandler LLP;
  • Jeremiah Buckley, partner of BuckleySandler LLP;
  • Judy Graham, program officer in NCUA's examination and insurance office;
  • John Harwell, NCCO, associate vice president of risk management of Apple Federal Credit Union;
  • Mitchell Klein, NCCO, chief risk officer of Citadel Federal Credit Union;
  • Frank Kressman, associate general counsel for regulations and legislation at NCUA;
