NAFCU Launches Credit Union Volunteer, Risk Management Certifications

Washington (April 17, 2015) – The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) has launched two new certifications for credit union volunteers and risk management professionals: the NAFCU Certified Volunteer Expert (NCVE) designation and the NAFCU Certified Risk Manager (NCRM) designation. NAFCU members and nonmembers can earn these designations.

"We're delightedto introduce these new certifications," said NAFCU Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone. "These earned designations will provide credit union volunteers and those who oversee risk management at their credit unions a tangible way of showing their knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of their particular roles."

The NCVE designation is attainable for registrants who sign up for optional pre-conference workshops and pass an exam at the end of those during NAFCU's Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee Conference and 48th Annual Conference and Solutions Expo. The training will help both new and seasoned board and supervisory committee members understand their role as credit union volunteers and how the credit union system works. Workshop registrants will also receive the new NAFCU Credit Union Director Handbook written by Demangone.

Credit union professionals can earn the prestigious designation of NCRM to demonstrate their overallunderstanding of credit union risk management and showthat they're prepared to deal with both internal and external threats their credit union might face. This new certification can only be obtained by taking and passing an optional exam during NAFCU's Risk Management Seminar.

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions is the only national trade association that exclusively represents the interests of federally chartered credit unions before the federal government and the public.
