The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) published a proposed rule amending Part 740 of its advertising regulations. The proposal grants credit unions additional flexibility when using NCUA's "official advertising statement." NAFCU would like to highlight the following:

  • The proposed rule allows federally insured credit unions (FICUs) to use a new version of the official advertisement statement, which would read as “Insured by NCUA.”
  • The proposed rule increases the duration of television and radio advertisements which do not require the official advertising statement to thirty seconds in time.
  • The proposed rule eliminates the requirement that FICUs include NCUA's official advertising statement on annual reports and statements of condition required to be published by law.
