Feb. 3, 2009 - MotleyFool.com, drawing information from NAFCU's daily rates page, reported last week on the the earnings edge for a one-year credit union share certificate over a bank CD.
Under the subhead "Where to super-size your short-term savings," the Jan. 27 piece notes that the average one-year share certificate rate at CUs was 74 basis points higher than the average one-year bank CD rate. (It was 84 points higher three days later.)
It added a plug as well for CULookup.com, created by NAFCU Services and sponsored by its preferred partners and NAFCU: "If you're not a member of a credit union already, you might be surprised at how easy it is to qualify for membership. Use CULookUp.com to find a credit union near you or based on membership type."
