Being a credit union official is no easy task. And it usually doesn't come with a job description. Both new and seasoned directors and supervisory committee members can find themselves working through issues without a firm understanding of the rules of the game. This interactive workshop is designed to help you better understand your role and how the credit union system works. NAFCU Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone has spent more than a decade studying credit union boards, risk, regulation and the credit union industry. He'll use this knowledge to help you by clarifying:

  • The role of a corporate board
  • The corporate governance of credit unions and how credit union officials fit
  • Fiduciary duties
  • The board's role in risk and compliance management
  • NCUA expectations and the exam process
  • The Bank Secrecy Act
  • An overview of the credit union industry
  • Key financial ratios that every volunteer should understand

This training session is the perfect way to show your examiner that your credit union's board takes its fiduciary duties seriously. As part of the workshop, you'll also receive the new Credit Union Director Handbook, written by Anthony Demangone.
