Pelosi to keep Democratic leadership post in House

Leadership appointments for the 115th Congress are completed, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., reelected to that position Wednesday by a 134-63 vote.

Pelosi was challenged by Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio. Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., and Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., the assistant to the leader, were not challenged for their positions and will keep their leadership posts in the coming Congress.

In November, Senate Democrats elected Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., as minority leader, replacing outgoing Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev. Senate Republicans reelected Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as majority leader.

Also last month, House Republicans nominated Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., to continue in his leadership position.
