NAFCU's Carrie Hunt and Chad Adams participated in the first full day of events Monday at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, with Reps. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and Sean Duffy, R-Wis., and Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., and Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, among the day's speakers.

Hunt, NAFCU's executive vice president of government affairs and general counsel, and Adams, NAFCU's senior associate director of legislative affairs, attended policy meetings, breakfast and lunch events, and met with lawmakers to discuss issues important to credit unions, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Cory Gardner, R-Colo.

Hunt and Adams will be joined later in the week by NAFCU Associate Director of Political Affairs Meghan Brady. NAFCU's team is focused this week on bringing the regulatory burden on credit unions to the attention of lawmakers and other policymakers. Melania Trump, wife of presidential candidate Donald Trump, also spoke Monday.

Duffy, chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, is among the speakers confirmed for NAFCU's upcoming Congressional Caucus in September.

During the GOP reception Sunday night, both Hunt and Adams spoke with Ohio Reps. Pat Tiberi and Jim Renacci.

NAFCU will also be advancing credit union issues at the Democratic National Convention, which is slated for July 25-28 in Philadelphia.
