New malware hitting Microsoft Office products

A new malware was discovered recently in Australia that targets Microsoft Office 365 products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

According to BetaNews, the malware comes via an emailed form designed to look like a normal invoice. If users click on the document and then click on a message asking to "enable" the content, ransomware locks the users' files.

Ransomware restricts access to a user's files, sometimes through encryption, and offers renewed access to the files in exchange for a ransom.

An Enigma Software report said ransomware attacks in the U.S. increased by 159 percent in April, reaching their highest level in history. However, ransomware attacks still make up less than 1 percent of malware infections.
