NAFCU Risk Management, BSA Seminars kick off today in Denver

Credit union professionals from across the country are gathering today to kick off NAFCU'sBSA Seminarand Risk Management Seminarat the Grand Hyatt Denver. Running concurrently for the first time, the two seminars continue through July 26 and 27, respectively.

Each feature opening remarks by NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger.

Risk Management Seminar attendees will learn about the latest trends and considerations when developing their institutions' data and cybersecurity programs and maintaining top-notch enterprise risk management programs.

"Credit unions face a growing array of risks, particularly amid the ongoing rise in data and cybersecurity breaches, and effective enterprise risk management is essential to ensuring a sound, thriving credit union operation," said Berger. "Risk Management Seminar attendees will learn about the latest trends in risk management and what other credit unions around the country are doing in this area, and they will leave with the knowledge they need to create and implement a risk management program that meets NCUA expectations."

The BSA Seminar will feature specific training for Bank Secrecy Act, audit, anti-money laundering and risk professionals. Attendees will learn about BSA trends and best practices, receive tools to master AML responsibilities and have the opportunity to earn theNAFCU Certified Bank Secrecy Officer, (NCBSO) a valuable designation upon taking and passing the exam. Attendees of both seminars can also earn credits towards NAFCU Certified Risk Manager(NCRM)and NAFCU Certified Compliance Officers (NCCOs) designations.

"This is a the second year for our BSA Seminar, which provides attendees the knowledge and tools they need to guard against and flag potential money laundering threats targeting their credit unions," said Berger. "This seminar is designed by leading BSA experts and will help prepare credit union attendees to meet and exceed regulators' BSA compliance expectations."
