CDFI Fund announces 2017 grant award amounts

Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions Program and Native American CDFI Assistance Program are offering $196 million in award funds for fiscal year 2017, per the federal government spending bill signed by the president last week.

NAFCU pushed for this funding to remain intact.

The CDFI Fund received 437 applications requesting nearly $564 million for the fiscal 2017 round of the CDFI Program, the largest number of applications and amount ever requested for a single round of the program, the CDFI Fund noted on Thursday.

The CDFI Fund is not accepting any additional applications for this round; applications were due April 28.

The fund, which is administered by the Treasury Department, is making the following financial assistance and technical assistance grants available:

  • $158.5 million through the CDFI Program's financial assistance and technical assistance awards;
  • $15.5 million through the NACA Program's Financial Assistance and Technical Assistance awards; and
  • $22 million through the Healthy Food Financing Initiative Financial Assistance awards.
