NAFCU Statement on NCUA's New, Interactive Examiner's Guide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington (Oct. 21, 2016) -- National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt issued the following statement following National Credit Union Administration's (NCUA) launch of its online Examiner's Guide – a move long-sought by NAFCU.

"Everyone benefits from being on the same page," said Hunt. "We appreciate the new format to allow the dissemination of up-to-date guidance."

The online Examiner's Guide, is an interactive tool allowing examiners to provide up-to-date, comprehensive supervisory guidance on certain regulatory and supervisory issues affecting credit unions.

The online format of the guide will allow readers to search various topics of interest and better locate related NCUA resources. The agency said the guide also has a feedback button, allowing interested stakeholders to leave their input and suggestions for additional clarification.

Under this new format, NCUA will be able to update the Examiner's Guide continuously, in the event of a new law or regulation.

NCUA said the guide will eventually include updated guidance on supervisory areas such as member business lending, consumer and real estate lending, internal controls, asset-liability management, investments and fraud, among others.

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) is the only national trade association focusing exclusively on federal issues affecting the nation's federally-insured credit unions. NAFCU membership is direct and provides credit unions with the best in federal advocacy, education and compliance assistance. For more information on NAFCU, go to www.nafcu.org or @NAFCU on Twitter.
