NAFCU Kicks Off 50thAnniversary Celebration,

"50 Years Strong & Growing Stronger"

Washington (Jan. 9, 2017)— The National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) today kicked off its year-long 50th anniversary celebration, "50 Years Strong & Growing Stronger" with the introduction of a videohighlighting the association's illustrious history of serving, leading and representing the interests of credit unions at the federal level.

"What began as a small association has grown into the leading credit union advocate in Washington, D.C., which couldn't have been accomplished without our members and the visionary credit union leaders who came before us. We are forever grateful for their efforts," said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. "As we serve our members, we'll continue to break down barriers on Capitol Hill so we can continue to grow stronger."

"We are very proud that one of our first victories, the establishment of the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) in 1970, is today a cornerstone of the industry's strength," Berger added. " We look forward to many more achievements that will help credit unions—not-for-profit, member-focused financial cooperatives— continue to succeed and help them better serve Main Street and their more than 106 million members."

For 50 years, NAFCU has worked to provide the best in federal advocacy, education and compliance assistance to the nation's credit unions. The association's accomplishments during this time will be celebrated and recognized throughout the coming year, including during NAFCU's 50th Annual Conference & Solutions Expo, which is scheduled June 13-16 in Honolulu.
