Every now and then, it's helpful to go back to the basics of leadership. And one of the most basic tenets of being a successful leader is being a likable person. It doesn't matter how many leadership books you've read or how much experience you have; if you are not liked, you are not going to be effective.

Peter Economy -“ also known as The Leadership Guy -“ wrote a recent post that includes seven habits that will not only make you more likable, but more effective. The habits include:

1. Be friendly.

2. Make time for people.

3. Keep a dynamic character.

4. Strive for possibility.

5. Lead by example.

6. Give prompt feedback.

7. Be compassionate.

Leaders can accomplish goals, meet deadline and have productive teams while remaining likable. If these seven habits are visible to your teams, your employees will be happy to work for you.
