Digital Marketing Strategist

The National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) is seeking to hire a Digital Marketing Strategist.  This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Digital Strategy, is part of a 4-person digital team within a larger Marketing Division, working on the strategy for the Association’s web presence, the centralized email production process, and the direct mail list strategy, research, and data.

What you'll do:

  • Manage, develop, and execute strategic email marketing campaigns, making decisions based on key metrics, best practices, current trends, and A/B testing to ensure proper targeting, deployment time, frequency, messaging and template usage.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to develop targeted lists to maximize product/service/event audience engagement.  Work closely with program managers to create and refine contact lists to expand reach, increase open rates.
  • Work with internal Marketing staff to create and execute online digital marketing initiatives, using relevant tactics including SEO, SEM, and social media.
  • Copyedit and proofread web content. Ensure all web content follows website design and copywriting best practices and is optimized for usability and SEO.
  • Analyze relevant metrics to develop key insights and action plans based on campaign trends and results to provide recommendations and guidance to internal stakeholders on existing campaigns, new initiatives, or future marketing budget planning. Conduct usability testing, surveys and research as needed to identify and keep pace with user needs and preferences.
  • Work with Events staff to create, manage, and maintain the digital sites and applications for assigned events. This includes ownership of all website, app, and email communications.
  • Support training and assistance for email across the association
  • Develop and implement best practices for content creation and distribution, channel strategies and measurement to demonstrate ROI and drive insights for decision-making.
  • Provide reporting on current digital campaigns and provide findings and guidance to internal Digital Marketing staff.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 2 - 3+ years of relevant online and digital content and marketing communications experience is required.
  • Must possess critical thinking, analytical and creative talent to develop engaging marketing content and strategic campaigns that maximize the Association’s effectiveness and reach.
  • Strong project management skills, strategic thinking and organizational skills essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing, grammar and proof-reading skills; good listener and ability to accept constructive feedback.
  • Great positive attitude, work ethic, and the ability to show tremendous initiative.
  • Understanding of the principles of UI/UX and basic usability concepts.
  • Working knowledge of SEO and web copywriting best practices.
  • Working knowledge of email marketing and content management systems; Hubspot, Drupal, and Wordpress experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Adobe CC (Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop), CSS and HTML.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Google Analytics, AdWords experience is a plus.
  • Experienced with databases and queries; iMIS experience is a plus.
