NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger will provide defense credit union leaders with a Washington and industry update during today's general session of the 55th Annual Conference of the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) in Williamsburg, Va.

The conference began Sunday and runs through Wednesday. NAFCU has worked with DCUC on many issues affecting credit unions with links to the defense community, including the Military Lending Act. Most recently, the two worked together to ensure the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) did not include a provision that would have required the Department of Defense (DoD) to allow all banks to operate rent free on military installations.

"NAFCU has enjoyed a strong working relationship with the DCUC over many years on those issues that impact defense-related credit unions," said Berger. "DCUC is a powerful partner as we work to ensure the industry can continue its excellent service to servicemembers and their families."

Anthony Hernandez serves as DCUC's president and CEO and is the council's top staff liaison with the DoD on matters affecting defense credit unions. He spoke during NAFCU's Defense Credit Union Summit at the association's Annual Conference and Solutions Expo in June.
