Berger marks National Volunteer Week

April 9, 2014 – NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger is reaching out to member credit unions and their volunteers in recognition of National Volunteer Week, which began Sunday and continues through Saturday.

This year brings the 40th anniversary of National Volunteer Week, established to celebrate volunteerism and recognize its contributions to communities and economic growth.

"Credit union volunteers inspire by example so that others are motivated to serve," Berger said. "They contribute each day to the remarkable success of the credit union industry and help us bring needed financial services to over 97 million Americans."

Berger conveyed thanks for the work of volunteers in emails to NAFCU member credit unions and to the volunteers that serve them. "On behalf of the NAFCU Board and staff, thank you for the dedication and tireless service you provide to your credit union and our industry."

Last Friday, President Obama issued a proclamation designating this week as National Volunteer Week. More on volunteerism can be found at Serve.gov.
