Bureau town hall on elder abuse today, NAFCU monitoring

ElderNAFCU's Regulatory Affairs team will monitor a Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (previously the CFPB) town hall today in Baton Rouge, La., that will explore ways to prevent the financial exploitation of elder Americans.

Registration for the event, slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. Eastern, is available here.

Bureau Acting Director Mick Mulvaney and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry will deliver remarks during the town hall. Consumer groups, industry representatives and members of the public will also participate.

In September, NAFCU's Ann Kossachev and Kaley Schafer met with the bureau's Office of Older Americans to discuss credit unions' elder abuse concerns.
