CECL, elder financial abuse among sessions at NAFCU seminars

NAFCU's Risk and Reg seminars kick off their second dayNAFCU's Risk Management Seminar and Regulatory Compliance Seminar continue today in Savannah, Ga., with sessions focused on hot topics such as the current expected credit loss (CECL) standard, marijuana banking, and elder financial abuse.

CECL is among NAFCU's – and credit unions' – top concerns this year, and attendees at the Risk Management Seminar today will learn how the standard could impact credit union operations. Credit union risk professionals will also attend sessions on enterprise risk management (ERM) best practices and cybersecurity trends – related to both exams and fraud.

At the second day of Regulatory Compliance Seminar, attendees will receive advice on starting a commercial lending program (learn more about credit unions' participation in government-backed programs in the newest edition of The NAFCU Journal) and how to guard against fraudulent checks. Marijuana banking – which is making progress in Congress – and preventing elder financial abuse are among other key issues that are featured during today's sessions.
