CU reg relief champion Miller to leave at year-end

Feb. 13, 2014 – House Financial Services Vice Chairman Gary Miller, R-Calif., announced Wednesday that he will not seek reelection in the fall.

Miller is the chief sponsor of H.R. 2572, legislation that would advance several key elements of NAFCU's five-point plan for comprehensive regulatory relief for credit unions. The bill's centerpiece is a proposal for a risk-based capital system for credit unions.

News reports quoted this statement from the lawmaker: "It has been a great honor to spend so many years in public service, striving to make a difference for southern California families. While there is still a lot of work to be done, it is now time for me to pass the baton. I will not seek reelection to Congress at the end of this term."
