Date to take over for Warren on CFPB

July 27, 2011 - The Obama administration announced Tuesday that Raj Date will replace Prof. Elizabeth Warren as special advisor to the Treasury secretary on matters relating to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, effective Aug. 1.

Warren will be returning to her position as the Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Date will lead the CFPB's day-to-day operations and help continue the effortsundertaken by Warren.

Date's current position with the CFPB is associate director of research, markets and regulations. Prior to his work with the new agency, Date worked for over a decade in the financial services industry, including Capital One Financial, where he was a senior vice president, and later at Deutsche Bank, where he was a managing director.

Recently, President Obama announced his intent to nominate Former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray to be the first director of the CFPB.
