Feb. 12, 2014 – Regulations announced by the White House, Treasury and IRS this week note added delays for employer responsibility provisions under the Affordable Care Act, giving two groups of employers extra time to cover their workers.

Now, employers with 50-99 workers have until 2016 to comply with requirements to offer health insurance to full-time employees. Businesses with more than 100 employees will have extra time to implement their coverage. Businesses with less than 50 employees are not required to offer insurance.

Treasury, in the announcement, also noted that additional final regulations, which have not yet been released, will attempt to streamline employer reporting requirements.

This is the second round of delays to this rule, which requires all businesses with 50 or more full-time workers to provide health coverage or pay a fine.
