NAFCU discusses CU issues at BCFP roundtable

BCFPNAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt and Regulatory Affairs Counsel Kaley Schafer met with officials from the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (BCFP) and other financial industry trade groups Thursday to discuss issues impacting credit unions and other financial institutions.

Under Acting Director Mick Mulvaney, the bureau has pursued a number of NAFCU-backed efforts to increase its effectiveness and transparency.

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger also interviewed Mulvaney for an exclusive video that aired at NAFCU's Annual Conference to discuss the bureau's efforts.

NAFCU was the only financial services trade association to oppose subjecting credit unions to BCFP authority under the Dodd-Frank Act and continues to press the bureau to exempt all credit unions from its enforcement and supervisory jurisdictions, as well as future rulemakings.
