Parsons Pittsburg CU closed

March 25, 2014 – The state-chartered Parsons Pittsburg CU of Parsons, Kan., was liquidated by state regulators Friday and NCUA was named liquidating agent.

NCUA said the credit union, in conservatorship since late January, had $13.4 million in assets and 1,466 members, according to its most recent call report. Its members, assets, shares and loans have been assumed by Golden Plains CU of Garden, City, Kan.

Chartered in 1951, Parsons Pittsburg CU served persons residing or employed within a 45-mile radius of Labette, Bourbon, Cherokee or Crawford counties in Kansas. The credit union also operated a branch in Pittsburg, Kan. It was the third federally insured credit union liquidation in 2014, NCUA said.
