Webcasts this week on BSA, risk-based capital

April 8, 2014 – NAFCU Director of Regulatory Compliance JiJi Bahhur and Senior Regulatory Compliance counsel Bernadette Clair will cover the basic requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and what lessons can be learned from other institutions' mistakes in a webcast today.

The webcast – "BSA Case Studies: Lessons to Enhance Your Program" – will begin at 2 p.m. Bahhur and Clair will focus on recent enforcement actions by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network and what credit unions can learn from those who failed to comply with the law's requirements. They will also discuss common weaknesses in BSA compliance programs, and how to enhance compliance programs.

On Thursday, Director of Regulatory Affairs Michael Coleman and Senior Economist Curt Long will join Denise Boutross McGlone, executive vice president and CFO at Affinity Federal Credit Union, to discuss NCUA's risk-based capital proposal and its potential impact on credit unions. The webcast is scheduled for April 10, at 2 p.m.
