Raskin confirmed as deputy Treasury secretary

March 13, 2014 – Sarah Bloom Raskin, a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, was confirmed by a Senate voice vote as the new deputy secretary of Treasury on Wednesday.

Raskin will be the highest-ranking woman to ever serve at Treasury.

Raskin previously served as Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation. President Obama announced her nomination to the deputy secretary role in July. She has served on the Fed Board since October 2010, and her departure will leave a vacancy for a term continuing through January 2016.

She will replace Neal Wolin as deputy secretary at Treasury.
