Neugebauer, author of 'Data Security Act,' joins Caucus slate

House Financial Services subcommittee Chairman Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, who is also the lead on NAFCU-supported H.R. 2205, the "Data Security Act of 2015," has joined the growing list of speakers for the association's Congressional Caucus in September.

Neugebauer also introduced H.R. 5465 last month, a NAFCU-backed bill that would repeal the Durbin amendment on debit interchange.

Neugebauer chairs the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee. He, with Rep. John Carney, D-Del., introduced H.R. 2205 last year. The bill would bring merchants under a national data security standard similar to the standard already followed by financial institutions.

Neugebauer joins NCUA Board Chairman Rick Metsger, CFPB Director Richard Cordray and nationally syndicated columnist, author and CNN political commentator S.E. Cupp, who are also scheduled to speak.

Other confirmed speakers, all members of the House Financial Services Committee, include:

  • House Chief Deputy Whip and committee Vice Chairman Patrick McHenry, R-N.C.;
  • Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chairman Sean Duffy, R-Wis.;
  • Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance Chairman Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-Mo.;
  • Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade Chairman Bill Huizenga, R-Mich.,
  • Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade Vice Chairman Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C.;
  • Rep. Andy Barr, R-Ky. (also member of the Republican Study Committee); and
  • Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio (also member of the Financial and Economic Literacy Caucus).

NAFCU's Congressional Caucus, Sept. 18-21 in Washington, is open to members and nonmembers.
