Capito, Clay, Emmer join Caucus speaker slate

Senate Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., House Financial Services Subcommittee Ranking Member Lacy Clay, D-Mo., and committee member Tom Emmer, R-Minn., have joined the growing list of speakers slated for NAFCU's Congressional Caucus next month.

Congressional Caucus, Sept. 10-13 in Washington, is NAFCU's credit union lobbying event of the year. Speakers will address the latest developments on tax reform, regulatory relief and other key issues for the credit union industry; attendees will discuss those issues during afternoon meetings with lawmakers and their staffs on Capitol Hill.

Capito is chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. NAFCU President and CEO Dan Bergermet with Capito last week along with other financial trade representatives. The meeting largely focused on regulatory relief and addressed topics raised in a recent Treasury report on relief recommendations for credit unions and banks, many of them supported and promoted by NAFCU.

Emmer serves on the House Financial Services Subcommittees on Capital Markets, Securities, and Investment; and Monetary Policy and Trade. He recently introduced a NAFCU-backed bill that would increase the reporting threshold for open-end lines of credit and closed-end mortgages under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.
