NAFCU's Regulatory Compliance School kicks off with fundamentals

NAFCU's sold-out Regulatory Compliance School kicked off yesterday in San Diego with experts providing attendees with a deep-dive into the fundamental regulations and agencies that impact credit unions' mission and daily functions.

The school began with a welcome address by NAFCU Executive Vice President and COO Anthony Demangone, who reiterated the necessity for knowledgeable compliance officers as credit unions maneuver their way through a complex regulatory environment that is ever-changing.

Throughout the day, NAFCU's Vice President of Regulatory Compliance Brandy Bruyere and her team will lead sessions on topics such as the Federal Credit Union Act, the difference in scope of the NCUA and CFPB, how to structure a new credit union and the issues that are unique to credit unions compared to other financial depository institutions.

Today's agenda includes sessions on various regulations, technological advancements and Truth in Savings. NAFCU is also offering multiple exam times during the week for attendees to become NAFCU Certified Compliance Officers (NCCOs).

The Regulatory Compliance School runs through Friday. Updates will be posted by @NAFCUon Twitter with the hashtag #ComplianceSchool. A full schedule can be viewed online here.
