Top Members of Congress Join NAFCU's 2017 Congressional Caucus Lineup

Washington (July 5, 2017)—House Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry, R-N.C.,House Financial Services Subcommittee Chairman Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Luke Messer, R-Ind., and Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., andMike Rounds, R-S.D., have joined the growing list of speakers confirmed for the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU)2017 Congressional Caucus, scheduled Sept. 10-13 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

NAFCU's Congressional Caucus, the association's credit union lobbying event of the year, brings hundreds of credit union leaders to Washington to talk about the industry's vital issues, visit with lawmakers on Capitol Hill and hear from prominent congressional and financial industry leaders.

McHenry, chief deputy majority whip in the U.S. House of Representatives, is also vice chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and serves on that panel's Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises Subcommittee and Oversight and Investigation Subcommittee.

Huizenga chairs the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities, and Investment and is the author of NAFCU-supported legislation (H.R. 1153) that would clarify the definition of points and fees under the Truth in Lending Act as applied through the CFPB's qualified mortgage rule.

Messer, in addition to serving as House Republican Policy chairman and on the House Financial Services Committee, also serves on the House Education and Workforce Committee.

Cotton, besides serving on the Senate Banking Committee, also serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee, where he chairs the Air Land Power Subcommittee.

Rounds serves on the Senate Banking, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Veterans' Affairs and Environment and Public Works Committees. He is the author of the NAFCU-backed TAILOR Act, which would require that rules be tailored to fit financial institutions' business models and risk profiles. He also authored a NAFCU-supported bill that would increase the reporting threshold for open-end lines of credit and closed-end mortgages under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.
