Input sought on CFPB complaint process, more

NAFCU is looking to input from its members as it drafts its own official comment letters on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's handling of credit card complaint data, the bureau's regulatory streamlining project and an IRS rule affecting 457(b) plans.

The regulatory streamlining project is expansive, covering consumer financial services rules that have been under the authority of seven different regulators until now. NAFCU is looking for members' input on this project by Jan. 16; comments are due to the CFPB Feb. 6.

The CFPB's credit card complaint process is out for comment until Jan. 30, and NAFCU is asking members for their input by Jan. 9. Meanwhile, the IRS has a proposed rule out that could affect federal credit unions' ability to offer 457(b) plans to their employees.

These proposals are detailed in NAFCU Regulatory Alerts 11-EA-32, 11-EA-33 and 11-EA 34.
