White House honors New Mexico Educators FCU employee
At the White House last night, Shana Runck, assistant vice president of community relations and financial capabilities with NAFCU-member New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union, received the Champions of Change award and was honored for the work she is doing in her community.
Runck works to provide at-risk Latino youth with the life skills and financial tools necessary for a successful transition into college, employment and financial independence. She helped develop the City of Albuquerque's "Running Start for Careers" program.
She was selected for a panel discussion in connection with last night's program, where she spoke about
the work she does with New Mexico Educators FCU to promote financial
capabilities and job training among students in New Mexico.
Every week, the White House invites Champions of Change to the White House to share their ideas. Champions of Change are nominated and then selected by the White House based on the positive differences they are making in their communities.
Runck also attended an evening reception last night at the vice president's residence in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month.

It takes about 30 times for a board to start to be in a new conversation before they start to get their brain rewired to embody the change [07:24] In merger conversations we lose sight of what is important for the member. We need to look at what the continuing organization will look like and what is the leadership the membership and continuing organization need and deserve. [12:39] An educated board and executive team are a sharper team. When you have sharper leaders in the organization good things come from that. [24:22] If we are not taking care of that relationship with the CEO then we are strategically hampered. With a good CEO evaluation, the board is higher performing, the CEO is more attentive to being high performing, and the relationship is high performing and more genitive.
