NCUA Releases 2007 Annual Report

Yesterday, NCUA Express delivered notification to me about NCUA's 2007 Annual Report.  You can access the 2007 Annual Report here, as well as older annual reports going back to 1994.  As compliance officers, we are often asked to summarize agency actions.  These reports do a fantastic job of summarizing agency actions for a given year.  And since NCUA makes these available going back to 1994, you have a great historical tool to help you for research requests and presentations.

Speaking of 1994, here are my fond memories from that year.

  1. A younger, slimmer version of me (with hair) enjoys an untied, unbeaten Penn State football season. After the final game against Michigan State, I may or may not have run on the field to grab a bunch of turf.  Which may or may not be sitting in a plastic container in my office.
  2. In 1994, I took two of my favorite classes of all time.  History of the Civil War, taught by Gary Gallagher, and History of Nazism and Fascism, taught by Jackson Spielvogel.  There isn't a month that goes by when I don't think about something those professors taught me.
  3. My final class on Friday ended at 11:50 a.m. during my fall semester.  By 11:55 a.m., I was meeting my buddy Tooch to plan that day's shenanigans.  Looking back, I don't think I accomplished anything of importance on a Friday afternoon that entire semester.

If anyone else has fond memories of 1994, feel free to share them via a comment.

It is almost August.  I saw the first "back to school" commercial on TV.  My heart always sinks a little when I see those for the first time each Summer.  If I had kids, I'm guessing my reaction would be a bit different.
